  4. The patient may have previously 
  5. worn contact lenses with either a 
  6. positive or negative experience.  
  7. If a patient had previously worn a 
  8. rigid lens and discontinued due to 
  9. poor comfort, it would be prudent 
  10. to fit the patient with hydrogel 
  11. lenses assuming they are a good 
  12. hydrogel candidate.

  14. Likewise, if a patient had a history 
  15. of successful rigid lens wear, had 
  16. been switched to hydrogels and 
  17. discontinued wear due to unsatisfactory vision or dryness symptoms, it may be better to try RGP lenses.

  19. TAKE A GOOD HISTORY and use the information to help make an intelligent choice of lens type.
